What’s Happening this Week …
Three Events Coming Up!
There are some important events coming up over the next few weeks, which we want to make sure everybody knows about!
St John’s Church Development Consultation
On Monday this week – 6th October – we are having the first of our consultation evenings for the redevelopment of the St John’s building. It’s an open evening so you can drop in anytime between 7-9pm. There will be a chance to look at the six possible plans we have drawn up and discuss your thoughts with members of the Church Development group. They range from one which keeps the pews to one where almost everything is removed and a Mezzanine floor put in (and all points in between!). No decisions have been taken yet, so if you want to have your say – please come along!
Gift Day and Pledge Programme
Next Sunday – 12th October is our Gift Day where we are inviting everybody to give for the work of the church this year and pledge towards next. Please prayerfully consider your response during the coming week.
Christine Schofield Memorial Concert
Please come along on Saturday 18th October at 7pm for an entertaining evening of music and readings with ‘The Singers’ and members of our Church Music Group. It’s free with a retiring collection for the St John’s Redevelopment. Refreshments will also be available. It’s a great opportunity to invite friends along for a special evening in memory of a wonderful lady.
Monday 6th October between 7pm and 9pm, just a reminder from the front cover – all are welcome to come to St Johns Church and view the proposed plans and have your say.
Tuesday 7th October 7.00pm Men’s and Ladies Group in the Centre, the speaker is Gillian Singleton
Wednesday 8th October 1.30 pm Mother’s Union in St John’s Centre
Next Messy Church Monday 13th October, in St Mary’s Church at 3.30pm.
As always cakes and helpers needed to help in this growing ministry among the families of St Mary’s Parish.
Children of Honduras Trust – Pastapacka David Yates is asking people to donate pasta, packed in 5 litre containers which he will happily supply.
Women’s World Day of Prayer conference on Wednesday 22nd of October 10.30 am – 3.30 pm at the Methodist Church on Chesterfield Road South. The cost is £4 which includes a Light Lunch, Worship and Speakers. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Over the years the rota for the Bible readers has become a bit confusing so we are starting afresh! Please let Val or Judith know if you would like to be on the list, existing and new people most welcome.
